FREE AGENCY – Seattle Seahawks

Blog by Michael Konsmo

Here are notes regarding some thoughts about Seattle Seahawks Free Agency

NFL Free Agency Begins March 9, 2026

As the Seattle Seahawks enter the NFL legal tampering window tomorrow, March 9, they face the enviable but difficult challenge of maintaining a championship roster following their Super Bowl LX victory. Armed with roughly $60 million in salary cap space—the third-most in the league—General Manager John Schneider must decide whether to run it back or let key contributors walk to prioritize future extensions for stars like Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Devon Witherspoon. The most pressing issue is the backfield, where Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker III is set to hit the open market alongside an injured Zach Charbonnet (ACL), leaving a massive void at running back. Additionally, the defense faces significant attrition with starting cornerbacks Riq Woolen and Josh Jobe, safety Coby Bryant, and edge rusher Boye Mafe all becoming unrestricted free agents. While the Seahawks have the financial flexibility to be aggressive, reports suggest they may take a more conservative approach to preserve long-term cap health, focusing on interior offensive line upgrades and retaining “collective” depth rather than chasing splashy external signings.
